WOCMM

Women Offender Case Management Model (WOCMM) merges evidence-based and gender-responsive research to enhance outcomes with justice involved women. Professionals are introduced to the guiding principles and core elements of effective practice and to advances in gender-responsive assessment and intervention.

WOCMM is a dynamic, seamless case planning process that begins at sentencing, continues beyond discharge from prison and/or community supervision, and ends when the woman is stabilized in her community.

WOCMM:

  • requires the woman’s active and collaborative involvement
  • promotes the development of an individualized service plan to summarize strengths, challenges and the targets of intervention
  • mobilizes existing strengths and helps the woman build new strategies
  • works to identify natural supports
  • provides a range of professional services and opportunities
  • reinforces small successes
  • monitors progress and outcomes.

To help women offenders realize success in the community, WOCMM:

  • provides a combination of supervision styles, resources and the interventions necessary to help justice involved women  achieve success
  • encourages community mobilization and partnerships to provide gender-responsive services and advocacy for justice involved women
  • provides the opportunity for intensive cross-training to bring together an optimum mix of supports, services and intervention programs for women offenders.
